A face you recognize. A place you remember. Keep the details you know, mark what needs checking, and print a caption to put beside a copy of the photograph.
Up to 12 captions · Your own words · Text download · Blank or filled browser printing · No account
Your words stay in this page's memory. They are not autosaved: refreshing or closing clears them. Download text or print before leaving. Keep your photographs beside you; this tool uses only the details you type.

Let the photograph start a conversation
Ask someone who remembers it what they would like to tell you. Record names from left to right, use an approximate date when needed, and note who supplied each detail. A question mark is useful when you are unsure. These original MemoirWell fields organize what you know; they do not identify people or date a photograph for you.
Yes. Start with four caption cards, add up to twelve, and type names, dates, places, memories and source notes. When you have entered details, the saved and printed copies include those captions and skip untouched cards. Leave every card empty to print blank forms for writing by hand.
Do I upload photographs?
Keep your photographs beside you. This tool has text fields only: it does not upload, scan, restore, identify or print images. Use a reference or filename to match each card with its photograph.
Where are my captions saved?
They stay in this page's memory. The tool does not upload your entries, use AI or autosave them. Refreshing or closing the page clears them. Download text or print before leaving. You choose who receives your saved copy.
Can I save the cards as a PDF?
Print or save PDF opens your browser's print dialog. Choose Letter or A4 and check the preview. Printing also works from the browser menu while editing. Longer captions may use more pages. Download text saves a TXT file; this tool cannot reopen it as a filled set of cards.
Did a photograph bring back a story?
Keep your captions first. MemoirWell's separate guided interview can help you develop one remembered scene into an AI-assisted draft chapter to check and edit. Your captions are not transferred automatically.
