For a family potluck or shared table
Potluck food labels you can fill in and print
Set a small card beside each dish so guests know its name and who brought it. Add a note supplied by the cook, or print blank labels to fill in as people arrive.

Label the dish when it reaches the table
Keep a few blank cards and a pen near the food. Ask the person who brought each dish what they want written, rather than guessing from how it looks. A familiar name can also start a conversation about who taught someone to make it.
SignUp.com’s potluck meal cards describe printing labels for participants’ contributions. Be A Heart’s food-tent article describes writing food names under a heading on printed cards. This tool uses an original layout and your own wording; their artwork and downloads are not used.
Keep the cook’s wording clear
The notes field is a place to copy information, not a check of what a dish contains. An empty note means information has not been provided. The tool does not verify ingredients, dietary claims or cross-contact. If a guest needs more information, the card can identify whom to ask.
A fictional example
Dish: Roasted garden vegetables. Brought by: Rosa. Cook’s note: Olive oil, rosemary and lemon; ask Rosa for the full recipe. Rosa and the dish are invented. Replace the example with details from the person who prepared your food.
Use the separate potluck sign-up sheet to plan contributions before the day, and the family recipe book to keep a full recipe and its story afterward. Nothing is copied between the tools.
Before you print the food cards
Can I print free potluck labels without signing in?
Yes. The four blank cards are ready to print. Add up to twenty labels in the editor. Once any label has words, print and TXT include only labels with something in any field, including a note-only label. If every label is empty, the sheet prints four blank tents.
How do I cut and fold the tent cards?
Print on plain paper or card, cut the dashed outer rectangle, and fold along its dotted middle line with the words facing outward. The upper half is the blank back. Four short or blank tents are intended for one Letter or A4 sheet. Check the preview and print one test sheet first. This layout does not match a particular precut label product.
What happens if my wording is long?
Your full text is kept. A length hint appears near each field’s suggested size. A label over a suggested size, over 300 characters in total, or with more than four lines in a field prints as a full-width flat card, without a back or fold line. It may span pages. Shorten the wording for a small folded tent, or keep the longer flat card beside the dish.
Does a blank note mean a dish is allergen-free?
No. Blank means unknown. This editor only prints the words entered; it cannot inspect a recipe, confirm a dietary claim or check how food was prepared. Ask the person who made the dish for information rather than treating the absence of a note as a claim.
Can I undo clearing a label?
Clear asks before removing that label’s three fields. Undo restores the exact words and returns to the label, including from Review. Editing the title or another label keeps Undo; new words in the cleared label remove it. Another Clear replaces the previous Undo. Leaving or refreshing the page clears the whole set.
Are the labels saved or uploaded?
They stay only in this page’s memory, without upload or autosave. Print or download text before leaving. TXT keeps your wording, spaces and line breaks with field labels and original card numbers. It cannot be reopened here as an editable set. The separate guided interview does not receive these words automatically.
Keep the story after the meal
Save your labels first. If a dish brings back a memory, MemoirWell’s separate guided interview can help turn it into an AI-assisted chapter draft to check and edit.
