A free worksheet for a spoken remembrance

A eulogy writing template for the words you want to say.

Begin with one memory you can describe. Use the optional sections to prepare your own words, then choose a working worksheet or a larger-print reading copy.

Six optional sections · Your own words · Text download · Blank or filled printing · No account

Getting the worksheet ready…

Your words stay in this page’s memory. They are not uploaded or autosaved: refreshing or closing clears them. Save before leaving. Worksheet text and print include your checking notes; the separate reading copy leaves those notes out.

Prepare your words one section at a time

Choose among six optional sections, in the order you might speak them. Keep anything still to check in the separate notes field.

Introduce this memory

Write a few opening words you would feel comfortable saying. You can explain your connection to the person and which part of their life you remember.

Keep a name to confirm, who supplied a memory, a reference or wording to review. These notes are in the worksheet copy and left out of the reading copy.

Choose a memory that sounds like this person

You can start with an ordinary moment: something you did together, a familiar habit or a detail someone else may recognize. Write the words you feel comfortable saying to this audience. Keep anything still uncertain in Details to check, including who supplied a memory or a name to confirm.

The Gift of Eulogy’s free template page offers a general fill-in-the-blank eulogy and a printable interactive PDF. Westbrock Funeral Home’s writing guide recommends specific memories, reading the draft aloud and preparing a large-print copy. The prompts and example here are original.

A fictional writing example

“I remember Mira keeping a pencil behind her ear at the kitchen table. She would hand it over before anyone had finished asking. That small moment is the one I want to carry.” Mira and this scene are invented; use a memory that belongs to your own account.

Try the reading copy aloud

In Review, choose Reading copy to see your writing fields together in section order. Read that preview aloud. Change a sentence that feels awkward, add your own pause or leave out a section you do not need. The filled reading copy prints at 14 pt; check the browser’s preview and the size that works for you.

Before you save or share

Is this a free printable eulogy template?

Yes. Print the empty worksheet for handwriting, or fill any of the six optional sections. The worksheet copy keeps the sections you have used, including a section with only checking notes. An otherwise empty worksheet prints all six sections. Every field is optional.

Which copy includes my checking notes?

Worksheet with checking notes includes all your entered fields in its TXT and printed copy. Reading copy includes your title, optional person and speaker labels, and only the writing fields in section order. It leaves out section headings and Details to check. You can choose Reading copy after entering words in a writing field. Check the chosen preview before sharing.

What prints if I use the browser’s print command?

From the editor, the browser prints the worksheet, including checking notes. From Review, it prints the copy currently selected in Choose a copy. Use Print or save PDF, select Letter or A4, and check the preview. Return to editing to change your words.

Are my words saved or uploaded?

Your entries stay in this page’s memory, without upload or autosave. Refreshing or closing clears them. Download the worksheet text to keep both your words and checking notes. A reading-copy download keeps only the reading fields. Downloaded TXT and PDF files cannot be reopened here as an editable worksheet.

Is a eulogy the same as an obituary?

This tool prepares words to say aloud in remembrance of a person. For a written announcement or life summary, use the obituary writing worksheet. You can use only the memories and details suited to the copy you are preparing.

Keep one of these memories

Save your worksheet before leaving. MemoirWell’s separate guided interview can help you develop your own memory into an AI-assisted draft chapter to check and edit. Your worksheet words and checking notes are not transferred automatically.
