A little card for the story behind an object
Keep the story with a family treasure.
A familiar bowl. A bracelet. A quilt someone made. Write a few words about the person, memory or everyday use you want to keep with it, then print a card to place beside the item or in its box.
Four empty cards to start · Up to 20 · Your own wording · Text download · Letter or A4 printing · No account

Give a small object a little context
Use a recognizable object name, a short family connection and one memory. Record who told you or where a longer note can be found. An approximate date or a question mark can stay on the card when a detail is uncertain.
Storied Gifts’ heirloom-tag description explains using printable cards to record an object’s story and significant details. Organized 31’s family jewelry story tags grew from brief histories kept in boxes with inherited jewelry. This editor has original MemoirWell fields and a simple cut-out layout.
Choose the part you want to keep beside the object
A short, specific memory is easier to read on a card. Keep longer descriptions, identifying marks, storage notes and research questions in your heirloom inventory. You choose which words to enter here; the tools do not copy or shorten one another’s entries.
A fictional example
Blue serving bowl. Connection: Jo remembers using it at Sunday lunches, around 1960. Story: Everyone waited for the bowl to come around before starting. Source: invented conversation note; the date is not confirmed. These people and details are made up. Replace them with your own wording.
Before you print the story cards
Are these free printable family heirloom labels?
Yes. Start with four empty story tags and add up to twenty. An entirely blank set prints the cards you have created with handwriting lines. Once any card has words, saved and printed copies include only written cards. A card with only a story or source is kept even without an object name.
How do the printed tags look?
Print on plain paper or card and cut around the dashed borders. The sheet has two columns. Blank cards have field labels and lines; filled cards show only entered fields, with a small source heading. They grow to fit your words and are not matched to precut label sheets. Keep the story short and check the Letter or A4 preview; long text or many line breaks can need extra pages.
Are our memories saved or uploaded?
The entries stay in this page’s memory, without upload, autosave or AI. Refreshing or closing clears them. Download text or print before leaving. Every filled field goes into the saved copy, and this page cannot reopen a TXT file as editable cards. It does not appraise objects, verify family details or decide ownership.
Does the text file keep my wording?
TXT keeps the sheet title, original card numbers, all four field labels and your words, including line breaks and spaces. Empty fields have a line. The printed cards omit empty fields once you have entered words; they keep the wording of filled fields.
What do Clear and Undo restore?
Clear this card asks before emptying all four fields on that card. Keep returns to editing without clearing. Undo restores the exact words on the cleared card and works from Review too. Changing the sheet title or another card keeps Undo available; new words in the cleared card replace it. Refreshing or closing removes Undo and the cards.
Does the keepsake bring a longer scene to mind?
Save your cards first. MemoirWell’s separate guided interview can help develop your memory into an AI-assisted chapter draft to check and edit. Card text is not transferred automatically.
