Write a few words of thanks

Every field is optional. Start with the kindness you want to acknowledge. A short message is enough if that is what you want to say.

Write the greeting you want to use, including the person's or group's name if you wish.

Name one act of kindness. You may add what it meant to you, or a small memory you want to share.

Choose a closing that sounds like you, or leave this field empty.

Use the name or family signature you want on the note.

Start with what you want them to know

You can name the help you appreciated and, if you wish, what it meant to you. A short message can stand on its own. Leave out anything you do not want on the saved or printed copy.

Dignity Memorial’s sympathy thank-you note guide describes personal notes for support, flowers, meals and other help. Its guidance says a note is not expected for every attendee. Funeral.com’s thank-you note guide suggests naming the kindness, its effect and who the note is from. The wording and blank form here are original.

A fictional example

Dear Sam, Thank you for bringing the blue photo album. Hearing the story behind that picture gave us something warm to remember. With thanks, Alex.

If you are also preparing words for a service, use the eulogy worksheet or the memorial service program.

Before you save your note

Is this a free funeral thank-you note template?

Yes. All four fields are optional. Write your own words, download a TXT file, or print through your browser. The tool does not generate wording or add a greeting, signature or family details for you.

What is included in a blank or filled copy?

A blank sheet has a greeting line, six lines for a message, and lines for closing words and a signature. A filled note includes only fields with words, in that order, without the form labels. The TXT contains your entered words with their spacing and line breaks. Blank TXT has field labels and writing lines.

Can I print a note on Letter or A4 paper?

Yes. This is a plain-paper note, not a folded card, envelope or commercial card-stock template. Short notes can fit on one page. Long entries may continue onto more pages; check your browser’s Letter or A4 preview before printing. Turn off its own headers and footers if you do not want them.

Will this send my note or save the recipient’s details?

No. Your entries stay in this page’s memory without upload, autosave or AI. The tool does not send email or messages. Refreshing or closing clears your note. Download text or print before leaving; saved TXT and PDF copies cannot be reopened here as a filled form.

Can I undo clearing the note?

Clear this note asks before clearing all four fields. Undo restores every field exactly. Any new typing after clearing removes that Undo so it cannot replace your newer words. Refreshing or closing also clears Undo.

Keep a memory behind your words

Save your note before leaving. MemoirWell’s separate guided interview can help turn a memory into an AI-assisted draft chapter for you to check and edit. Your note is not transferred automatically.
